Where will we start?

We have now decided on a specific topic - the Parliament fire of 1916, and divided up the work evenly. For the project, I will be working on a flash animation for the home page to use as a "hook," a map made with the Google map tool with descriptions of each of the buildings (along with which did or did not survive the fire), as well as researching the arson theories at the time (that the buildings were set on fire by a spy, as the fire took place during the first world war). In the end, we hope this information, along with the research of everyone else in the group will make a good digital history project.

  1. I will look into witness testimonies to see if I can collect different perspectives on the fire and the implications of it as described by people during that time. Also, I would like to go to the national archives and see if there are primary documents with relevant information about the fire to contribute to our research.

This is probably kind of obvious, but as we research are we going to post our findings on the blog? I figure that would prevent unnecessary overlap of information for our finished product and also would help each other out.

  2. I will be researching the major topic of the fire itself. Also the causes of the fire and an in depth summary of the events which happened during the night and shortly after the fire had been put out.

Also I will be managing the zotero library. I will try and figure out how to put a group together so we can all upload into one page of the websites and resources we use for research like we did before in class.

  3. Also to answer Jacob's question, I think we should all out our findings on the blog. It probably will save us a lot of time.

  4. I have been researching the aftermath of the fire, I have found some great websites on what happened to the Parliament building, and how it was rebuilt etc. I think that the library at school will probably have some good information too, so probably at the beginning of next week I will check that out as well for information.

I have been saving all the websites that seem to have good information on my zotero library, once I get a couple more I will post the best websites on the blog so everyone can look them over.
